The Wall
Built to rise above you
Like the original Memorial, The Wall That Heals is erected in a chevron shape. Visitors experience The Wall rising above them as they walk toward the apex — 7.5 feet at its tallest point — a defining feature of Maya Lin’s design in Washington, D.C.
The replica is constructed of Avonite, a synthetic granite, with machine-engraved names and LED lighting that keeps every name readable day and night. Visitors are welcome to make name rubbings of individual service members and to leave mementos at The Wall.
Traveling With The Wall
The Mobile Education Center
The 53-foot trailer that carries The Wall That Heals opens into a Mobile Education Center — the only traveling memorial to include a display of items representative of those left at The Wall in Washington, D.C.
Exhibits tell the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall, and the era that shaped a generation — with video displays, artifacts, and the digital Hometown Heroes and In Memory Honor Roll screens.

Guided tours, led by the people who know The Wall best
VVMF staff travel with the exhibit and lead guided tours throughout the visit — the history of The Wall, the war, and the stories behind the names. No other traveling Vietnam exhibit offers this. Schools, veterans organizations, and community groups can reserve a guided group tour.
